From our Representative Director

The number of myopia population in the world is rising continuously. From the 1950s to 2050, it is expected that the number of myopia population will reach 4.76 billion (49.8% of the total population) worldwide, and how to prevent and control myopia development is already an important social focus. Myopia development will not only pose a more serious eye disease risk for our children but also will affect their future careers.

Orthokeratology has attracted lots of attention as the way to control the progression of myopia. It has been approved clinically to slow the progression of myopia by slowing the growth of axial length of the eye.

IAOA, as the Asian branch of IAOMC, has been conducting several academic exchanges in China, Japan, Taiwan and other Asian locations since 2012, and was officially registered as a legal entity in Fukuoka, Japan, in 2016.

As the Representative Director of IAOA, I am very glad I could be the part of the society, and work with the experts to promote the health of the young eyes and safety of the practice of orthokeratology.

I would like to thank you all for your support and welcome you, if possible, to join us in contributing to the prevention and control of myopia in young children.
